laundry

You can feel the winter coming in this light. It's not much of a technical shot - but I liked the composition and how the framing made a bunch of random elements work together.

plug

Some late fall sun on a fireplug. Paint takes on a different feeling after enduring wind, rain and cold weather around here - it takes on a history that shows its weak points and stresses - a little like people.

salon

I was walking by this scene and it immediately caught my attention - the color and the simplicity of the scene - it's essentially straight out of the camera with minimal sharpening and no color adjustment. I particularly like the yellow "spots" on the curtain.

blink

Happy Thanksgiving.. Another pull from the "not likely" folder. Conversion to platinum tones and some work on sharpening and midtone contrast brought more of the original vision to the shot. I'm still not overly thrilled - I feel like it would benefit from another half hour's work.

almost gone

Taken during our New England monsoon season of '05 (October) - try as it might, the fog couldn't quite erase the coastline.

Close

Originally pitched into my "possible but not likely" folder because of the focus- this shot held my interest and with a few minor alterations in photoshop - mostly color balance adjustments to compensate for a nasty green cast my Nikon has a tendency to produce - which seems to be amplified on overcast days.

Stuck (again)

This is a revisit of a previous post - reworking the shot into how I'd originally imagined it – in platinum tones. You can see the "original" color shot here.

EX T

What I like about urban scenes that appear to be devoid of humans is that while people appear to be absent, they are not. The presence and marks of a city's inhabitants are everywhere. From missing letters to bent posts - even the most mundane objects have history.

Fall color

I was walking by this tree yesterday (a crisp blustery beautiful fall day) it's in the middle of the Portland, surrounded by asphalt and parking lots and the sun was just hitting it in such a way that it lit up like a ball of fire.
