A strange shot - where nothing works - but something about it all not working intrigued me - an odd combination of elements and seeming narrative.

Watching the storm roll in

We cut a boat trip with friends short as a fast-moving storm rolled in. The girls were a bit awed by it (lots of rain and high winds).

I keep finding myself drawn to the effects of weather on paint. Even when there is artistic intent behind the creation, such as this stencil, the effects of time and weather usually conspire to add a history to the piece that makes is richer and often seems unlikely to have been part of the original vision.

Water Fairy

This is almost entirely straight out of the camera. I just had to run an "auto color" and a tiny color balance adjustment to bring out the seaweed. Then a customary slight sharpen to compensate for dropping resolution. For those curious what it is, the entire shot is the reflection on the surface of the ocean just off the edge of a dock at sunset - my daughter's leaning over the edge. Taken in the bow shadow of this boat
